Riding the 2025 RollerCoaster - MDL Group

Who among us has summer plans to go to an amusement park and take in the thrill of a rollercoaster?

You might say a ride is unnecessary based on the rollercoaster of a market we’ve been experiencing this year. In February, the S&P 500 reached an all time high, then precipitously dropped nearly 20% by the start of Q2 in April,  which typically signals the beginning of a bear market. Yet, here we are in mid-June and the market has almost captured back all that it lost. It looks remarkably close to that roller coaster picture!

Despite the rally, our communities, country, and the world continue to face obstacles that will certainly send us into twists and turns that we weren’t prepared for. Continued escalations in war and conflicts threaten geopolitical stability. And with political unrest across the U.S., it can feel like we’ll never get a break from this volatility.

Throughout it all, at MDL Group, we ask ourselves:

  • “What are we supposed to make of all this?”
  • “How do these events affect our clients?”

While we don’t have answers to the macro problems we’re facing, we do know that when we lean into our core values, we provide the service you deserve.

Professionalism – In a volatile environment professionals block out the distractions and focus on performance. Ensuring occupancy stays high. Keeping tenants happy. And sourcing investment opportunities for our clients.

Gratitude – The 4th of July is around the corner. Despite domestic unrest and global turbulence, we’re grateful to live in a country that values independence and offers prosperity.

These are values MDL has nurtured throughout our 30+ years serving and building trust among our commercial real estate clients. And while there have certainly been many trying times (2008 and Covid-19), the historical performance of our industry and the markets has been positively upward. As always, we’d love to know how you’re doing. We can follow and analyze macro trends all day long, but it’s you as owners and business leaders that really know what is happening on the ground.

So please, contact us about what’s working and what’s not in your business, and let’s discuss how you’re navigating this complex climate. And if there is anything we can be helping you with like leasing strategy, investment timing, or market positioning, please reach out anytime.
